2011-09-29: GBA Marine receives contract on four new CVOC systems
Teekay Shipping has confirmed an order of four new CVOC systems to be installed on their new SUEZMAX size shuttle tankers currently under construction at Samsung Heavy Industries in Geoje, Korea. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2013, and will be operating in Brazil.
Teekay has so far ordered nine CVOC systems from GBA Marine. The first was delivered to the shuttle tanker M/T "Navion Hispania" in May 2007. After an extensive verification of system performance by MARINTEK, four more CVOC systems were ordered for installation on the new state-of-the art Amundsen Class shuttle tankers built at Samsung Heavy Industries.
With this new order, Teekay Shipping confirms their strong commitment to reduce emissions and protect our environment. Hopefully, this initiative will set a new Benchmark towards a greener future for crude oil transport in Brazil. As an added bonus, more cargo will also reach the destination since there are no losses during the sea voyage.
